‘KHAITAN’ was first to brand the fan industry, First to advertise the product (fan) on TV, creating awareness for a good quality branded product. First to see the vision of a domestic exhaust fan and to develop it under a new name which we commonly associate with today-“Fresh air fan “.We were the First to establish the fan industry into an organized sector. We were the first to set up an organization to bring together all players in the fan industry, through the formation of IFMA (Indian Fan Manufactures Association), which for a long time allowed all of us to enjoy the oligopolistic character of the fan industry. Over the past four decades the fan industry has had to constantly change through innovation, to keep up with the demands of the market. KHAITAN has been successful in catering to the needs by providing a variety of electrical products from domestic fans to industrial, from appliances to pumps. Due to the massive competition faced because of the Chinese imports, the fan industry has had to transform a 8 kg fan into a 3.3 kg fan. The price of a fan has not been constant with the rate of inflation in this country. Hence, overtime we have had to successfully value engineer our fans to keep our consumers satisfied, by providing the best possible quality at the best possible price.
KHAITAN was the first to see the need for exhaust fans in domestic homes. From the heavy duty metal exhaust fans used in industries, we successfully created the light weight ‘Fresh Air Fans’, using plastic components. This helped in reducing the noise level and energy consumption in our homes. When the concept was introduced the bathrooms and the kitchens has no open space for the fitment of these fans. The hole in the walls that is left in the kitchen and bathroom by all builders in India today, is due to the vision of our Founder Chairman.
The aggressive marketing tactics of our Founder Chairman made the name KHAITAN synonymous with that of fans. It was never before that advertising and promotion was taken this seriously in this industry. And even today as stated by the “India Council of Market Research & Franchise India ” that the first name that comes to your mind when said ‘FAN’ is KHAITAN. We have always strived to uphold the values of our founder and provide “QUALITY AT ALL COSTS”.
Being the Chairman of IFMA for 10 years he had played a strong role in this industry. He created barriers for local competition and imports. The practices, operations and prices of this trade were regulated. We were at the cusp of creating this industry.
